BARLEYmax™ Chai Latte

Serves 1

This chai latte is made using BARLEYmax™milk’. This is a simple ‘milk’ to make and is a great substitute for dairy or nut milks as a high fibre alternative.

Ingredients

BARLEYmax™ Milk
1 cup BARLEYmax™ flakes
3 cups water
4 medjool dates to sweeten (optional)

BARLEYmax™ Chai Latte
1.5  cup BARLEYmax™ milk
2 tsp fresh chai leaves
4 cardamon pods
1 cinnamon stick
½ cup milk of your choice
¼ tsp cinnamon
Honey to sweeten (optional)

Method

  1. Place the BARLEYmax™ flakes, water and dates (if using) into a high speed blender and blend for about 1 minute until smooth.
  2. Strain the milk by pouring it through a nut milk bag (or cheese cloth) into a pitcher or bowl. Use your hands to squeeze the milk out of your nut milk bag. Once no more milk is coming out, you can discard the pulp. Refrigerate milk until chilled.
  3. In a small saucepan, gently heat the milk, chai, cardamon and cinnamon, stirring constantly.
  4. When the milk is hot, pour through a strainer into a large mug.
  5. Froth the milk and add to the tea together with a sprinkle of cinnamon. Sweeten with honey if desired.

Tip: for a refreshing summer version, blend the tea with ice cubes before adding milk
